It's Time to Give!

As the recovery from the Great Recession continues, two things are increasingly clear.  The first is that we must all work together to improve life in our community; the second is that philanthropy plays a critical role in our ability to move the needle.

This past year, in partnership with our generous donors, The Denver Foundation has invested in programs to serve those most vulnerable in our community:  people without homes, without food, and without health care.  We have supported the arts, and helped low-income neighborhoods improve from the inside out.  Specifically, in 2011, we have accomplished the following in our efforts to strengthen Metro Denver:

  • Provided almost $5 million in responsive, peer-reviewed grants for health, human services, the arts, education, and low-income neighborhood support
  • Helped lead the merger of four of our state’s largest HIV/AIDS service providers to streamline operations, contain costs, and improve service delivery
  • Continued our focus on hunger by providing emergency food grants; coordinating a collaboration of nonprofit food providers; and supporting advocacy efforts, school breakfast and lunch programs, and summer feeding sites for low-income families with young children
  • Connected diverse college students with local nonprofit organizations to strengthen our sector and promote inclusiveness at all levels of nonprofit leadership

We can give to the community because so many generous Metro Denver residents have given to us for the last 86 years.  Your gift will be a direct investment in our work to improve life for everyone in Metro Denver.
