Meet Sara Anderson, The Denver Foundation’s Strengthening Neighborhoods’ Intern
Sara Anderson is The Denver Foundation’s Strengthening Neighborhoods 2010 summer intern. Born and raised in the Montbello community, located on Denver’s far Northeast side, Sara says she came from a single parent household comprised of her mother and two sisters. She is a first generation college graduate, having recently received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado State University where she majored in Communication Studies with a minor in Women’s Studies.
Sara shares that because of her upbringing, and the types of things that she has witnessed while growing up, her heart is geared toward helping inner-city communities. “Addressing the issues around youth, low-income families, gang violence, poverty, and lack of adequate education, teenage pregnancies, and the inequalities within the justice systems is what draws me into the nonprofit sector,” she says.
