The Denver Foundation staff and board wish to extend our appreciation to the following outgoing trustees for their dedication and commitment to the Foundation:
Joe Blake
In his six-year term, Joe Blake served on the Civic & Education, Grantmaking, Executive, and Nominating committees. Joe also chaired the Foundation’s 2007 Strategic Planning Task Force.
Rich Lopez
Rich Lopez volunteered as our most recent Board Chair, as well as the Arts & Culture, Civic & Education, Health, Human Services, Grantmaking, Executive, Inclusiveness, and Nominating committees during his six years on the Board.
Penfield Tate
Penfield Tate worked with the Civic & Education and Finance committees, as well as serving on the Professional Advisors Council during his terms on the Board. Penfield was chair of the Civic & Education Committee.
Darrell Watson
Darrell B. Watson joined the Board of Trustees after serving on the Strengthening Neighborhoods Committee. During his term on the board, he served on the Strengthening Neighborhoods and Inclusiveness Project Committees.
The Denver Foundation is extremely pleased to have worked with these outstanding leaders and we look forward to continuing our connection with them in the future.
Welcome New Board Members
The Denver Foundation welcomes three new trustees
Sarah Bock
Sarah Bock initially came to The Denver Foundation as the director of Social Venture Partners Denver, and joined as a partner herself after leaving the Foundation staff. She has served as chair of Social Venture Partners Denver, as a member of the Social Venture Partners International Board of Directors, and as Vice Chair of The Denver Foundation’s Philanthropic Services Committee.
John Ikard
John Ikard is the President and CEO of FirstBank Holding Company. FirstBank is the second largest bank in Colorado with more than $10 billion in assets. John serves on the national board of the American Bankers Association, is a member of the Colorado State University Board of Governors, and serves in volunteer leadership roles with the Denver Area Boy Scouts, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Wildlife Experience.
Sandra Shreve
A longtime teacher and administrator in the Aurora Public Schools, Sandra Shreve served on the Foundation’s Civic and Education grantmaking committee for four years. Among her extensive volunteer activities, Sandra was chair of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame and is the past President for the League of Women Voters of Denver.
