Guidelines for Organizations with Special Circumstances

In some circumstances, an applicant organization must provide information and documentation in addition to that which is described in the Community Grants Program Guidelines. Below are guidelines which must be followed if your organization falls within any of the listed categories. If any of the descriptions below apply to your organization, please download and use the appropriate guidelines document for your circumstance. Contact the Grants Manager or a Program Officer at The Denver Foundations with further questions.

Guidelines for using a Fiscal Sponsor

Under limited circumstances, The Denver Foundation may provide support for new organizations that don't yet have their 501(c)3 designation, but do have a fiscal sponsorship relationship with another 501(c)3 organization.  If this applies to your organization, please consult the guidelines below in addition to the Community Grants Program Guidelines.

Guidelines for Local Affiliates or Chapters of National Organizations
An organization that is a locally-based chapter or affiliate operating under the 501(c)(3) of a national organization may apply for funding. If this applies to your organization, please consult the guidelines below in addition to the Community Grants Program guidelines.

Guidelines for a foundation or organization that raises funds for another specific entity

Foundations or other nonprofit organizations that exist solely or partly for the purpose of raising funds for another specific, named entity may apply for funding. Examples include – but are not limited to – the foundation for a hospital, university, college, school district, or individual school.) If this applies to your organization, please consult the guidelines below in addition to the Community Grants Program Guidelines.

Guidelines for a public school district administration or grants office
The Grants Office or administration of a public school district in the seven-county Metro Denver area may apply for funding for programs within their schools. This does not apply to a grant proposal from a public school foundation. If this applies to your organization, please consult the guidelines below in addition to the Community Grants Program Guidelines.
