Who We Are

Established 1925
Mission We inspire people and mobilize resources to strengthen our community.
Overview The Denver Foundation is a community foundation. Community foundations are endowments - a permanent pool of money contributed by numerous local donors to benefit charitable causes.
Roles The Denver Foundation has two primary functions. First, it invests funds received from donors and distributes those investment earnings to nonprofit organizations through grants to nonprofits. Second, it manages and administers funds for individuals, families, businesses, and other organizations that have specific charitable objectives.
Gifts The Denver Foundation received more than $71 million in 2007 from hundreds of individual donors who want to improve life here in Denver.  Donors established 109 new funds at the Foundation and contributed to both new and existing funds making 2007 the second-best year for fundraising in our history.  Some of the contributions were gifts to create donor advised funds – personalized giving tools for individuals, families, and businesses.
